Hey, you forgot about painting the little miniatures!
Seriously, though: as a wannabe writer I learned through role playing that if I give my characters flaws or vulnerabilities it makes for more interesting storylines (read: I got more attention from the GM.) It’s good to keep in mind that giving characters problems makes them more intriguing and sympathetic for your readers.
This is all true, plus I love playing with painted minis, even if I don’t love painting them.
