14 – Disney Princesses Now and Then

The Mythcreant Podcast
Chris, Oren and Mike talk about the main Disney Princesses and how their stories have evolved over time. They discuss the idea of love at first sight as it appears in older Disney Princess movies, and examine depictions of gender and race in the latest movies.

Correction: In the podcast we pronounce Sami with a short “a,” but its pronunciation is closer to “Saw-me.” You can listen here.

Spoilers: Tangled and Frozen

Enjoyed this podcast, but this is also one of my favorite subjects.

I actually only have one major correction:
In “Princess and the Frog” Tiana’s father had in fact passed away. However, her mom is alive and well (and voiced by Oprah Winfrey who was a consultant on the film). So actually Chris, this proves your point about Disney women and their families even more.
